The story of Zavarovalnica Triglav reaches back to the year 1900. In these 110 years of its operation a number of things changed and we can say that changes and responses to them were the only constant thing in the business operation of our insurance company that is currently preparing a new strategy for the following medium-term period.
Every company, including Triglav, needs solutions and plans for quick and effective responding to various conditions of the dynamic and ever-changing business environment to preserve its successful business operation and support its development. The turbulent times, which we live in, make changes even substantially faster and much more unpredictable. This, however, demands constant vigilance and quick actions.
Countless books were written on the subject of strategies and they are again and again the subject of numerous lectures, discussions and studies. But the old truth is still valid: the first and the most important step in realization of a goal is its clear definition. Clearly defined values, mission and vision of the insurance company mitigate the process of defining the correct strategic goals and the choice of suitable strategies. This allows for constructive and effective adaptation and response to changes in the business environment, response to the needs of our clients, competition and other factors of success.
Good strategic goals and strategy allow a company to focus on the vision and key tasks, and to assure that employees will lead the company in harmony with defined common values and mission towards set goals. Every organization is namely composed of individuals that have to be ready to realize strategic goals and consequentially the vision of the company. Employees must know why they do what they do. They must feel that their efforts and endeavours are directed towards a common goal. Because, "if there is no common goals, people place their own goals in the forefront", said Charles Handy, one of the greatest world thinkers in the theory of management, in his work Beyond Certainty. Strategic goals and strategy can therefore come to life only if those who will realize them can also identify with them. A strategy that is based on what the employees perceive as their common goal, as something important to them and something which they can appreciate and feel as their own desired future, namely has a big possibility of being realized.
A strategy which is in preparation will therefore not only be an experts' detailed report in fine printing, intended for presentations in public or financial circles, but will be a plan of everybody, which will be realized with our common strengths and will thus represent the strategy of all members of Triglav.
